Spiritual Survival

"So that you, your children and their children after them may fear the LORD your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life."  Deuteronomy 6:2

I thought that my first post should explain the most important aspect of survival. Without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).

My entire life I have enjoyed learning about survival in all aspects of life. I grew up as a Boy Scout and worked my way to Eagle. In Scouts I learned about wilderness survival and primitive living skills. At 13, I started practicing martial arts until eventually earning a 2nd degree black belt. Martial arts taught me how to survive a physical encounter. I began my career in law enforcement at 22. Being a cop has taught me to think tactically and how to make it home after every shift.  It was not until God blessed me with an amazing family, that I truly understood survival! Faith is the key aspect of my life.

We were created to please God, over time we have grossly perverted God's plan. If we are to have the survival mindset for life, we must trust God for our survival! If God takes care of the sparrows, He will take care of us as well (Matthew 6:26). We must realize faith is first and all else quickly follows. My family is not only the answer to my survival, it is the answer to the survival of faith. Teaching my family about Christ and the importance of family prepares them for everything that they will ever face in life, it follows the commands given from the beginning of Scripture to take dominion over the earth (Genesis 1:28), and it leaves a LEGACY of faith for the next generation of Christ followers. I challenge you to teach and live survival by leaving a spiritual LEGACY for your family and friends to follow!

Always remember, the moments that we don't teach faith, we teach failure! Failing is not surviving!
